Good evening lovely book readers,
Hope you’re having a wonderful start of the week. By any surprises it is bank holiday today in Dublin which means I could continue reading and enjoying the nice Spring weather.
Without further due, let’s start our review of this beautiful cliché book by Ella Maise.

Book Summary
The brand new novel from bestselling author and TikTok sensation Ella Maise. Perfect for fans of Elena Armas and Ali Hazelwood.
Charlie might work at her dad’s company but that doesn’t make her life easy. She’s the kind of person who always goes the extra mile for a client, remembers colleagues’ birthdays and arranges the cake. And yet her dad still favours her sister.
So Charlie shouldn’t be surprised when her dad brings someone in to manage her and the team. But what does surprise her is that the new boss is her guy.
The man who she went out with years ago and could never stop thinking about. Charlie wants to hide under the desk… but then she realises she doesn’t have to.
Because William doesn’t seem to remember her at all.
Review
This was a 3 star book.
First let me explain the storyline.
It was cheesy, it was rom-com and it was the most cliché book I’ve read. It just reminded me of a good rom-com movie that I would definitely try to watch.
It has the perfect storyline for someone wanting to spend an evening in with a glass of wine and ice cream. (Do not abuse of alcohol please) .
However, I am a fervent believer that some romance books should not go beyond those 350 pages. And this book is one of them. It was too long, once it happened (if you read the book, you would know. If not, you’ll dur sure see what I mean once you’ve arrived there) I just did not want to read it anymore.
The writing was good and it did remind me of Ali Hazelwood. Which I was introduced to last year. But then again are some romance books deserving of the + 350 pages. I don’t think so.
In my opinion the only books (romance one) I allowed and had no trouble finishing where the Twisted book series by Ana Huang. And it was also brought to my attention that the current King of Sloth has over 350 pages and while I am currently reading it, it seems to be fine. (Review is coming soon)
The characters were fine and I felt so terrible for Charlie. She genuinely made me cry as she is deserving of so much better than her current job, her family and their snarky comments.
I can’t seem to shake the idea of how they were treating her, both in her job and in her personal life especially the father and the sister. I do understand where her grandmother is coming from, but for the other people no. Some of you might tell me, “Manon, the grandmother was terrible as well” and believe me I agree with you guys but we also need to put ourselves in her shoes. Not everyone is dreamer after being left or cheated on.
Love,
Manon 🎈
