Hello Dear Lovely Book Readers!

Welcome to another Sunday review! Can you believe we’re already halfway through November? December (and my TBR list for it) is just around the corner, and I can’t wait to jump into the festive season reads with all of you! But before that, I have a few more books I’ve been dying to talk about—and today, it’s Killjoy by Holly Jackson.
Book Overview
Killjoy is a prequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. Even though it was released after the main series, it gives a delightful backstory to Pip and explains why she’s so drawn to solving mysteries—especially for her EPQ project in the series. As a big fan of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, I couldn’t resist diving into this one to see what motivated Pip from the very beginning.
My Thoughts: Fun, Familiar, and Absolutely Entertaining!
I genuinely loved Killjoy. Despite being a short, quick read, it brought so much fun and warmth with it. Pip and her friends gather for a murder mystery party after exams, and it’s basically Clue brought to life! I couldn’t stop laughing at how they all took on different roles and how Pip’s inner detective came out in full force, even during a game. It’s both lighthearted and insightful, giving us an early look at her knack for deduction and her curiosity about digging into mysteries.
If you loved A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder as much as I did, reading Killjoy feels like a reunion with Holly Jackson’s addictive storytelling. I got all those familiar vibes and loved seeing Pip’s character from a fresh perspective. It was like a little piece of nostalgia for me, taking me back to the series that really hooked me on murder mysteries.
For Fans of Mystery Parties…
If you’re into real-life Clue, Killjoy could even inspire your own murder mystery party! Watching Pip work through the “case” and seeing how she uses her natural deduction skills just might make you want to host a similar event. It’s a blast to read, and for anyone interested in a short but satisfying mystery, I can’t recommend it enough.
What’s Next
Next week, I’ll be diving into Escaping from Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco, and I’m hoping to round out the Stalking Jack the Ripper series with Capturing the Devil. Then it’ll be time for December reads, which I can’t wait to share with you!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a lovely end of the week. See you next Sunday for another review!
