Good evening lovely book readers,
I hope you had a lovely week so far. We are here today to review a series that I have put on hold for quite some time.
It has been difficult for me to finish this book as it was the first series that put me back into reading. The Grishaverse helped me back and I do own all the books, but also the limited signed editions of the Six of Crows duo-logy and a copy of the Istorii Sankti and the Thorns of Languages.
Book Summary:
As the King of Ravka’s failed attempt at getting the demon out he now has to face the wrath of Shu Han and Fjerda. As he faces those two enemies the demon king has to face a come-back from his countries first enemy.
Meanwhile, Zohar is struggling. Not only that but her arch-enemy is back and she has lost the only person who understand her. Or did she know?
Miles away Nina has been taken in into the Brum’s household as their daughters maid. Concealed she needs to figure out if Fjerda is going to move forward or not and if she can save this country.
Review:
While this is the end of an era for me, this book was definitely a good way to finish the Grishaverse.
The complexity of each of the characters, but also the come back for others kept me in the loop the whole time.
This is a good way to finish the series and a good way for ending the Shadow and Bone by having a loop.
Despite all of this praise it is still not enough for me to reward it with 5 stars as the book does not quite finish and puts a point at the end of the story.
Storyline:
The demon king. As Fjerda’s massive army prepares to invade, Nikolai Lantsov will summon every bit of his ingenuity and charm—and even the monster within—to win this fight. But a dark threat looms that cannot be defeated by a young king’s gift for the impossible.
The stormwitch. Zoya Nazyalensky has lost too much to war. She saw her mentor die and her worst enemy resurrected, and she refuses to bury another friend. Now duty demands she embrace her powers to become the weapon her country needs. No matter the cost.
The queen of mourning. Deep undercover, Nina Zenik risks discovery and death as she wages war on Fjerda from inside its capital. But her desire for revenge may cost her country its chance at freedom and Nina the chance to heal her grieving heart.
King. General. Spy. Together they must find a way to forge a future in the darkness. Or watch a nation fall.
See you soon for another blog post!
