The Wicked King, The Folk of the Air #2 by Holly Black

Good evening lovely book readers,

I hope you’re having a wonderful Monday.

Another book that I have been put off for quite some time. I even DNF’ed it three time in the last five years before finally taking my sister’s promise to the next level and read it.

Book Summary:

When Jude made her deal with Cardan she never thought it could come with so many complications.

Now after 5 months her deal is almost coming to an end and she needs to find a way how to make the deal last longer. But as she is trying to find solutions she needs to find a way to keep the Undersea at bay.

Review:

As we are deep-diving into the world of Elfhame once more, Holly Black managed to continue her world building.

We are seeing many different places and yet the last twenty-five percent of the book really went into the plot twist and the strategies that made us fall in love in the first place.

The character development is present and although we see some changes we are still meeting with the faeries difficult personalities.

Plot:

Jude has placed Cardan on the throne, but she is the true power behind it. As Jude navigates the court, and politics of Faerie she runs herself thin thinking of every loop-hole that could free Cardan from her. Not long is left on her Year and a Day bargain, and Jude must protect Oak and Faerie from a looming threat – Jude may not be able to be glamoured, but she can be broken. She is mortal after all.
