Wildfire by Hannah Grace Maple Hills #2

Hellow lovely book readers,

I hope you're settling into this third week of January.

This Monday will go over the review of Wildfire by Hannah Grace.

It is the second novel in the Maple Hills series and this time we follow another hockey player Russ and his new found crush Aurora.

"Like Mom, I've been searching for a reason. Desperately looking for answers that might explain things, give me something I can cling to and fix. I don't think I can fix a serious character flaw."

Aurora's POV, page 309, Wildfire by Hannah Grace

INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The latest in the TikTok sensation and deliciously “swoonworthy” (Elena Armas, New York Times bestselling author) Maple Hills series follows two summer camp counselors who reconnect after a sizzling one-night stand.

Maple Hills students Russ Callaghan and Aurora Roberts cross paths at a party celebrating the end of the academic year, where a drinking game results in them having a passionate one-night stand. Never one to overstay her welcome (or expect much from a man), Aurora slips away before Russ even has the chance to ask for her full name.

Imagine their surprise when they bump into each other on the first day of the summer camp where they are both counselors, hoping to escape their complicated home lives by spending the summer working. Russ hopes if he gets far enough away from Maple Hills, he can avoid dealing with the repercussions of his father’s gambling addiction, while Aurora is tired of craving attention from everyone around her, and wants to go back to the last place she truly felt at home.

Russ knows breaking the camp’s strict “no staff fraternizing” rule will have him heading back to Maple Hills before the summer is over, but unfortunately for him, Aurora has never been very good at caring about the rules. Will the two learn to peacefully coexist? Or did their one night together start a fire they can’t put out?

I gave this book 4 stars.

I did like it, I know most readers out there might be complaining that there is no true story behind either Icebreaker or Wildfire. However, I enjoy those books because of the dept of most of the characters.

In this book both characters struggle with familiy and mostly daddy/ mommy issues which is one of the most common issues nowadays. And, unfortunately for me, I am one of those people that still suffers from those issues even if I'm doing better.

But when following both of those characters, and highlighting most of the parts I can relate too, I just struck me. One of them is struggling with a parent that has another life and does not care about their child, but on the other hand does care about the child of the new partner. The other character suffers from a parent with addictions and the aftermath on how it destroys their life as a family.

Suffering myself from both those aspects it just hits different and you feel somewhat closer to the characters.

Hannah Grace does a great job, so far, to have characters that face so many demons that we can see happening in society, and it just hits different.

Those books might not have an actual plot but they are good to help you recover and get to that journey of healing and the healing path as those characters do.

An amazing book in my opinion, well written and to devour in 2 days.

I hope you loved this review!

Love, Manon
